New details have been revealed in an attempted murder-suicide that happened Tuesday night in Dinuba.

DINUBA, Calif. (KFSN) -- Police have identified the suspect involved in an attempted-murder suicide in Dinuba.

Just after 9 p.m. Tuesday, Dinuba police received a call that a man was holding a gun to a woman's head inside a home on Gardenia and Primrose avenues.

Investigators say the woman collapsed after she left the home.

"We learned there that she had received at least two gunshots to her chest," Dinuba Police Chief Abel Iriarte said.

Officers surrounded the house before sending in a drone to check for anyone inside.

While in the home, the drone brought into view 26-year-old Jesus Murillo, who was found dead from a self-inflicted gunshot wound and a handgun nearby.

"The relationship is from what we're told. They had a dating relationship, boyfriend girlfriend," Chief Iriarte said. "They have two children in common and believe they were going through some type of separation."

The victim is a 28-year-old woman and mother of Murillo's two young children. She was taken to the hospital, where she was listed in critical condition.

Police say the kids were not at the home during the incident and that they are safe with family.

"She's so sweet, always baked goodies love to give," one neighbor said. "Our hearts go out to her."

Action News discovered the victim had recently filed for child custody of her children with Murillo and had a court hearing scheduled for April 29.

This is the second domestic violence incident in Dinuba in the last few weeks.

On March 18, a man shot and killed his wife, 33-year old Amie Porras, at their home on Hollow Way before killing himself.
